EDF Energy being eyed up by Hong Kong businessman

Li Ka-Shing, Hong Kong’s richest businessman is planning a bid for the British arm of EDF Group of France.

Li Ka-Shing holding company, Cheung Kong Infrastructure (CKI) and Hongkong Electric, is looking to pull together a joint venture with Hongkong Electric, which is 40% owned by CKI.

CKI has business interests throughout China, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, as well as Britain where it already has stakes in Cambridge Water, Southern Water and Northern Gas Networks.
